چکیده

s | 27 Results: Social defeat stress as juveniles, even with 1-day exposure, induced robust and persistent deficits of social behaviors in relation to the unfamiliar ICR mouse, compared with the responses of mice exposed to the stress as adults. The stress did not affect anxiety-like behaviors during spontaneous locomotor activity in a novel environment and performance on the elevated plus-maze or marble-burying test. Additionally, the mice exposed to the stress as juveniles showed the increased serum corticosterone levels and suppressed neurogenesis in the subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus. The persistent deficits of social behaviors and suppression of neurogenesis were prevented by administration of mifepristone prior to the stress. Conclusion: Deficits of social behaviors induced by social defeat stress as juveniles are more persistent than when exposure occurs as adults. The deficits are associated with suppression of neurogenesis in the hippocampus via activation of glucocorticoid receptors. Valproic Acid Exposure during Early Postnatal Gliogenesis Leads to Autistic-like Behaviors in Rats

Objective We reported that postnatal exposure of rats to valproic acid (VPA) stimulated proliferation of glial precursors during cortical gliogenesis. However, there are no reports whether enhanced postnatal gliogenesis affects behaviors related to neuropsychiatric disorders. Methods After VPA treatment during the postnatal day (PND) 2 to PND 4, four behavioral test, such as open field locomo...

Effects of Maternal Lead Acetate Exposure during Lactation on Postnatal Development of Testis in Offspring Wistar Rats

Objective(s) During recent years, there has been an increasing interest in contribution of environmental pollutants as heavy metals to human male infertility. Present study was aimed to investigate the effects of maternal lead acetate exposure during lactation on postnatal development of testis in offspring rats. Materials and Methods A total of 60 female rats randomly divided into four equa...

Effect of chronic morphine exposure during the neonatal period on the anxiety like behavior of immature rats

Introduction: Several studies have reported anti-anxiety effects of morphine in adult rats. The present study examined the effect of chronic morphine injections in infancy and before puberty on anxiety-like behavior in immature rats. Methods: Neonate rats (n=35) were randomly chosen and divided into two groups. On postnatal days 8-14, one group received saline and the other one received mor...
